Chie and Leo in front of their house. It only a 6 to 7 minute walk to the Vienna Metro station. It's a 25 minute ride to work, which is pretty good by Japan standards.
私たちのうちは、ヴィエンナのメトロの駅まで、徒歩６～７分。仕事へ行くのには、とっても便利である。だって、電車一本だし、２５分しかかからないのだ。

我が台所へようこそ。見ての通り、Chie は盆踊りをして歓迎するらしい。
Behind Leo is the farewell gift that Chie received from her friends at NAS, all of them club members.キッチン・テーブルで座る Leo。後ろには、Chie が NAS の会員さんからもらった、プレゼント。Chie いつも見えるところに、大事に飾っていますよ。
Ken は、毎日、自分の勉部屋で英語を勉強する。少しずつ進んでいるよ。がんばれ、がんばれ。This is Ken in his study room, studying English. He is improving, slowly but surely.

Ken の勉強方法の一つ。英語でテレビを見る。なんか、勝手な観察かもしれないが、一番好きな勉強方法じゃないのかなぁ。ハァー。One of Ken's studying methods: Watching TV in English. In fact, I think it's his favorite studyingmethod. Sigh.

Outside the House うちのそとWhen summer comes around, there are fireflies around our house. This is a firefly close up. And they really do light up, although its more of a flicker--off and on--and only around dusk. 夏になると、うちの周りには蛍が飛んでる。これは、蛍のクローズアップ。夕暮れになって薄暗いところで、蛍の点滅が見える。

Here is a typical place where the fireflies appear. This is next to our house. Unfortunately, photographing a firefly right when it lights up is virtually impossible for Leo. This is an "image photo." That is, what it looks like to our maked eyes but is recreated here. ここは、蛍が出てくる、代表的な場所。うちのすぐそばである。残念ながら、蛍がちょうど点滅しているときに写真を撮るのは、Leo には不可能に等しいわざである。これは、われわれの目で見えるイメージを再現した。要するに、偽造写真だ。
Cooking 料理Chie is stuffing roasted pepper with a fresh radish salad. Chicken is coated with olive oil and spices (rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper), with lemon slices buried beneath the skin. The chicken is also has bread stuffing and is placed on a bed of rice pilaf. Chie と Ken は Leo の作ったレモン・チキンを食べるところ。チキンにオリーブ油とスパイス。肉と皮の間に薄くスライスしたレモンを入れる。チキンは、パンのスタッフィングが入ってて、ライス・ピラフの上にのせる。
